Frequently Asked Questions

Note: if you are registered for Westwords, you should have received an email on June 14th entitled "Nuts and Bolts," which contains a wealth of detailed information. (If you register on or after June 14th, you will receive that email as part of your confirmation.) Be sure to consult that message first when searching for answers. If you can't find what you're looking for there or on this website, you can contact us at the address below.

Do I need to bring a writing implement?

Yes, please bring your own pencils and erasers. (Do not use pens.) If you are bringing pencils that require sharpening, please bring your own sharpener as well.

What are the lunch options? Can I bring my own food?

There are a number of cafes and restaurants nearby; select "Travel Information" from the top menu to view our custom map. You may bring in your own snacks, but out of respect for Netivot's kosher policy, please bring only vegetarian food onsite.

Can I ride my bike to the venue?

Yes, there is a bike rack with room for 2 bikes, and ample space for additional bikes inside the locked courtyard which is not visible from the parking lot or street.

Does your focus on local solvers mean people shouldn't travel in?

Not at all. While we are very happy to be providing an in-person tournament experience for people who aren't able to make it to east coast events, we welcome solvers from all over!

Are you looking for volunteers?

It can't hurt to offer, in case any of our volunteers have to cancel! If you would like to, please send us an e-mail at  westwordsbestwords@gmail.com with the word “volunteer” in the subject line and which role(s) interests you in the body of the email. Volunteer roles are as follows:
