Tournament Information

Westwords will be held at Congregation Netivot Shalom, at 1316 University Avenue in Berkeley, CA. (It is a lovely airy building, but nevertheless we will require masking indoors. There is outdoor space for mingling, where masking will not be required.)
The tournament, both in-person and online, will run from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific. In-person solvers will be able to arrive earlier to sign in and socialize. The day will include a lunch break, the time of which will be communicated in advance.
Puzzles!
Westwords will feature seven (!) tournament puzzles. Four will have themes, and three will be freestyle (themeless). Both themed and freestyle puzzles will range in difficulty from easy breezy 💐 to very challenging 😈. All seven puzzles will contribute to your overall score and placement—in other words, the last puzzle will not be scored separately.
We have a dream team of constructors on board, and puzzles will be edited by Kate Chin Park and Rebecca Goldstein.
Registration and Cost
Select the appropriate registration option below. After you register, you will receive a confirmation email from John Lieb (boswordstournament@gmail.com). The options are:
In-person attendance: $75 (note: in-person enrollment is capped at 150; masking required indoors)
Online solving, individual: $35
Online solving, pair: $50
Post-tournament puzzle pack: $10 (puzzles will be emailed the day after the tournament)
A student/discount rate of $10 is available for online (individual or pair) solving.
